Village Manager Dane Bragg is pleased to announce the promotion of Kathryn “Katie” Golbach to Human Resources Director for the Village of Buffalo Grove, effective Monday, February 5. The Human Resources (HR) Department is responsible for critical functional areas including recruitment and retention, benefits and claims administration, labor management, training and organizational development.

“Ms. Golbach has successfully transformed the Department’s operations to enhance employee experiences and increase efficiencies,” said Bragg. “She is an incredible asset to the Village, trusted and respected by her colleagues, and I am confident in her abilities to support both our current and next generation of public servants.”

Golbach brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new position. She began her career in local government with the Village of Carpentersville in 2016 before joining the Village of Buffalo Grove (BG) as HR Management Analyst in August of 2018. Ms. Golbach has demonstrated exceptional dedication and professional growth, earning a promotion to HR Manager in early 2023, and now to HR Director. During her tenure with BG, Golbach has implemented an online open enrollment program and a new applicant tracking software, overhauled the performance evaluation program, drafted new policies and employee handbook revisions and recruited for numerous positions.

Golbach is a graduate of University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and holds a Masters in Public Administration from Northern Illinois University. Additionally, Kathryn obtained her SHRM-CP (Society for Human Resources Management – Certified Professional) in May of 2023.

"I’m passionate about this organization and, over the past five years, my commitment to our mission, our people and the positive impact we create together has only deepened,” said Golbach. “I’m honored to continue serving our dedicated employees and contributing to the ongoing success of the Village in this elevated capacity."

Golbach’s promotion will undoubtedly enhance operations, as her proven track record of successes and vision for the future align seamlessly with the Village's commitment to fostering a dynamic and effective workforce. The Village plans to backfill her current position in the coming weeks.
