The Buffalo Grove Police Department offers a traditional recruitment program as well as a lateral transfer opportunity (for current sworn officers).

As an officer with the Buffalo Grove Police Department, you will be presented with challenges and opportunities unequaled in any other profession. We strive to recruit the most highly skilled, competent, dedicated, community-oriented officers possible. Our officers pride themselves on performing their duties to the highest level of excellence. After completing mandatory state academy training, new officers are assigned to the Patrol Division with a field training officer. In addition to working as a patrol officer, there are several special assignments available within the department.
