Help! My back yard is flooded?

Please click on the tiles below for great tips on how to minimize the stormwater runoff effects after a rain event. Keep in mind that much of Buffalo Grove was developed before many of the stormwater regulations went into effect. If you have standing water in your yard please wait 48 hours after the rain event has occurred before contacting Public Works. If your home is in danger of flooding contact us at 847-459-2545. The Clean Water Act (CWA) states that is illegal to discharge any pollutant from pipes or man-made ditches into navigable waters unless a permit is obtained. The National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit program limits what can be discharged, as well as monitoring and reporting requirements to ensure that water quality is intact and individual health is not affected.
