Electrifying developments: Tesla dealership and Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar coming to Buffalo Grove

Get ready, because two dynamic forces are coming to Buffalo Grove. The highly-coveted Tesla Dealership development is the first project In the brand-new Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District along the Dundee Road corridor in Buffalo Grove. Meanwhile, just north, the popular Lazy Dog Restaurant is making its way onto another major corridor, Lake Cook Road, promising a family-friendly dining experience for residents and visitors alike.

“It’s booming here in BG, and our energy is contagious,” said Village President Eric Smith. “We’ve built a foundation and paved the way for development, and the market is responding with modern, innovative and experiential plans that align with our vision.”

The introduction of the Tesla dealership is not just a milestone for auto enthusiasts; it's a catalytic event that is sparking the creation of a fresh TIF District. This strategic move will help revitalize the area and boost the local economy. In addition to the 50,000-square foot Tesla dealership, the developers, Shorewood, will also build two retail tenant spaces adjacent to the dealership, plus luxury residential units. The Shorewood development is located at 915-945 Dundee Road, where the former Rohrman auto dealerships have set vacant for over a decade. More details on the components of this 16-acre redevelopment are forthcoming.

“We’ve absolutely loved doing business with Buffalo Grove over the past several years,” said Louis Schriber, Founder and CEO of Shorewood Development Group. “This highly anticipated project wouldn’t be possible without the Village’s willingness to put in place the economic development tools necessary to spur redevelopment.”

Lazy Dog unleashes plans to bring made-from-scratch American food and drink to major intersection

The Lake Cook Road and Route 83 intersection continue to evolve. Last year, the roadway project was completed, as was the new, award-winning Northwest Community Healthcare building. Now, with The Clove under construction to the west, and a new retail and office development to the south, that leaves just one corner anxious for activity.  Lazy Dog Restaurant is wagging its way into that prime spot on the northeast corner, an outlot in front of Jewel Osco. Known for its innovative twists on American dishes served with small mountain-town hospitality, Lazy Dog is poised to become the go-to spot for locals. Plus, its expansive outdoor seating area allows you to enjoy your meal fireside with your dog at your side. At the August 21 Buffalo Grove Village Board meeting, the Board unanimously agreed to send the development petition to the Planning and Zoning Commission. The development plans were reviewed and unanimously recommended for approval by the Commission and then final approval received by the Village Board in November. If all goes as planned, construction will begin next spring, and Lazy Dog will be open in the summer of 2024.

Synergy of growth

The synergy between the introduction of the Tesla Dealership and Lazy Dog Restaurant is nothing short of exciting. These two developments are poised to ignite growth, excitement and opportunity across Buffalo Grove. As the Dundee Road TIF District charges up the economic landscape, Lazy Dog's offerings are set to create a dining hotspot for residents and visitors alike.

“The future is looking bright in BG. Get ready to witness a dynamic transformation with a lasting impact,” said President Smith.
