Multiple Police Agency Cooperation Results in Guilty Pleas and Jail Time

3 indictedThree men who were involved with residential burglaries in Buffalo Grove and neighboring communities have plead guilty and are headed to the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) to serve out their jail sentences. This result was achieved after months of investigation and collaboration between the Buffalo Grove Police Department and nearly a dozen other law enforcement agencies from the north and northwest suburbs of Chicago.

In November of 2018, Buffalo Grove Police arrested three men for Residential Burglary, a Class 1 felony. Over the last two months, each plead guilty to the crime and were sentenced. They include Jaime A. Jaime, 33, of Cicero who was sentenced to five years, Pablo Martinez, 27, of Franklin Park, who received a seven-year sentence, and Oscar Peralta, 23, previously of Chicago, who was sentenced to five years.

During the commission of the crime last fall, the three men were observed by members of the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force (NORTAF) committing the Buffalo Grove residential burglary. Buffalo Grove patrol officers and investigators responded to the scene to assist, and the trio were subsequently arrested.
Following the burglary, Buffalo Grove police recovered stolen items from the Buffalo Grove residence, in addition to property from other homes in neighboring communities. Investigators are now in the process of returning stolen property to the rightful owners.

Members from the following law enforcement agencies contributed time and resources that resulted in the guilty convictions: Barrington PD, Buffalo Grove PD, Elmhurst PD, Inverness PD, Kildeer PD, Lake County Sheriff’s, Lake Forest PD, NORTAF, Northbrook PD, Northfield PD, Skokie PD, and the Wilmette PD. The group was also assisted by the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office.
