Buffalo Grove Police Deputy Chief to be sworn in

Lieutenant Brian Spolar of the Buffalo Grove Police Department (BGPD) will be promoted to Deputy Chief at tonight’s Village Board meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Village Hall, located at 50 Raupp Boulevard.

Lieutenant Spolar began his career with the BGPD in 1996 as a Community Service Officer before being sworn in as a Police Officer in September of 1996.

He then made his way through the ranks, including Corporal (2003), Sergeant (2012) and Lieutenant (2020). Once promoted this evening, Lieutenant Spolar will immediately begin his assignment as Deputy Chief of Administration.

“I’m honored to serve as Buffalo Grove’s new Deputy Chief of Administration,” said Spolar. “This department has given me so much over the years, and I look forward to working with our leadership team to enhance our exemplary public safety services.”

Other members of the Police Department will also be recognized with awards at tonight’s meeting, including the presentation of a Special Commendation for Officer David Wojs and Employee of the Year for Sergeant Jaime Verduzco.

“It’s an exciting day for BG,” said Chief Brian Budds. “I’m so proud to have the opportunity to promote Lieutenant Spolar to Deputy Chief as well as recognize the outstanding achievements of Officer Wojs and Sergeant Verduzco. Congratulations to all.”
