Fire Displaces Five Families in Multi-Family Residential Building

The Fire Department was dispatched to a reported fire at 941 Pine Tree Circle South at 11:43 a.m. on Sunday, July 3. When units arrived on the scene, heavy smoke was observed coming from multiple sides of the multi-family residential condominium building, and fire was visible within minutes.

A roof collapse occurred approximately 20 minutes after crews arrived, causing the evacuation of the building. Firefighters then began using multiple hose lines from the outside of the structure to extinguish the fire. Once the fire was brought under control, firefighters entered the building and spent the next hour searching for any hidden fire.

One person was transported by ambulance to the hospital for observation and two firefighters sustained minor injuries and were treated on the scene and released.

Due to the volume of fire and temperature around 90 degrees, area fire departments were requested to provide assistance. In total, resources from 18 fire departments were utilized to bring the fire under complete control.

Five families were displaced due to fire and smoke damage in the five affected units. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
