Buffalo Grove Fire Department Responds to Apartment Fire
On Thursday, July 22 at 6:24 p.m., the Buffalo Grove Fire Department responded to a report of smoke from a resident in an 8-unit apartment building located at 1174 Windbrook Drive. The department’s units extinguished a fire that occurred in one unit that result in smoke damage to a total of two units. At this time, the cause of the fire has not been determined and is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal. Two families were displaced and have received assistance from the Red Cross.
Upon arrival, Fire Department command noted smoke coming from the front door and entryway into the building. The Buffalo Grove Police Department assisted in evacuating neighboring buildings while firefighters made an initial attack on the fire. Incident command elevated the response to a Code 4 (working fire response) at 6:31 p.m. with five neighboring departments responding to the scene for additional support. The fire was under control by 6:39 p.m. with all loss stopped at 6:56 p.m. There were no injuries to residents or the responding firefighters.
