The Buffalo Grove Police Department conducted a Thanksgiving Enforcement Campaign between November 16-26, 2018, reminding motorists to buckle up and not to drive impaired, day or night, as part of the nationwide Click It or Ticket mobilization.

The Department joined other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois to reduce highway fatalities by issuing citations to unbuckled motorists and arresting impaired drivers.

During the ten-day mobilization, Buffalo Grove Police Officers stopped 47 vehicles for a variety of traffic violations. Police issued 24 seat belt citations, one child car seat citation, and two uninsured motorist tickets. In addition, one person was arrested for having a suspended/revoked license.

The annual Click It or Ticket mobilization may be over in Buffalo Grove, but that isn’t an excuse to stop buckling up. Not wearing a seat belt is a primary offense, which means that law enforcement can stop motorists and issue a citation if they, or their passengers, are not wearing seat belts.

“Our officers are out year-round. If you or your passengers, front or back seat, are caught not wearing a seat belt, you will be cited for this violation,” said Sergeant Michelle Kondrat.

The Click It or Ticket mobilization was made possible with federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
