A total of 17,500 face covers will be distributed over a three-week period beginning Thursday, May 28, 2020; 2,500 will be handed out twice weekly at Vernon Township, 3050 N. Main Street in Buffalo Grove. A maximum of five face covers will be provided per household. Face coverings will be available in adult and youth sizes.

“We are proud to partner with the Township to help ensure all our residents have access to face covers to continue to flatten the curve,” said Village Manager Dane Bragg. “We encourage community members to continue following social distancing guidelines as we move toward reopening all facilities, businesses and public spaces in Phases 3 and 4 of the Governor’s Restore Illinois Plan.”

Vernon Township Supervisor Jonathan Altenberg added, “This joint effort between the Township and the Village furthers our commitment to providing needed supplies to our residents. Working together, we have been able to access additional resources to the benefit of the entire community.”

Face covers will be distributed on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. To participate in the distributions, residents are required to sign up at vernontownship.com prior to the date of pickup under the header “Cloth Masks Available.”  The face coverings are a cotton/polyester blend and can be washed and reused. They were purchased by the Village and the Township, with assistance from a FEMA Public Assistance Grant.
