Fire Data Dashboard
A Data Driven Fire Service
Data is central to the work that we do here at the Buffalo Grove Fire Department. Data helps us to predict the types of calls that will happen in the future, assess the Department’s ability to meet the level of risk present within the community, and determine how well the Department is performing once an emergency occurs. The dashboard below is designed to provide a real time glimpse into our operations and more importantly, into our performance.
Frequently Asked Questions
The Department uses a variety of time measurements to track and assess its performance including call handling, turnout, travel, and total response time.

Turnout Time – Defined as the time between when a unit is dispatched (assigned to a call) and when the unit leaves the station.
Travel Time – Defined as the time between when the unit leaves the station and when it arrives on the scene of the emergency incident.
Total Response Time – Defined as the time between when the 911 call is received and when the first unit arrives on the scene of the emergency incident.
The dashboard below is designed to provide a real time glimpse into our operations and more importantly, into our performance. The charts, graphs, and performance dials within this dashboard include only emergent calls (where a fire department unit responded using its lights and sirens) that occurred within Buffalo Grove within the last quarter.
