Chief Casstevens Attends International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Conference in Israel

20 Years of Volunteering
Kay Krupela, Buffalo Grove Police Department Volunteer, was recently honored at the Village of Buffalo Grove Volunteer Luncheon for her 20 years of dedicated work for BGPD. Kay has been very involved in assisting officers with the Peer Jury Program, as well as other events. Thank you Kay!
IRS Warns of New Tax Scams
Thousands of people have lost millions of dollars, as well as their personal information due to scam artists, particularly during "Tax Season". Help protect yourself by taking a few precautionary steps, and always keep an eye on your credit reports, bank accounts, and possible refund or payment status. BGPD and Canadian National Railway Police Partner for 2018 National Random Acts of Kindness Day
Officers from both agencies, along with Janet Smith of Java Junction, partnered to pass out free coffee, goodies and giveaways on Friday, February 16th to morning commuters at the Buffalo Grove Train Depot. The officers had a great time and hope those who were there did as well!
Buffalo Grove Police Department Accepting Lateral Applications for Police Officer

BGPD Gifted Valentine's Day Treat Bags from Country Meadow Girl Scouts
The Girl Scouts from Country Meadow School brightened the days of dozens of officers by presenting them with gift bags containing sweets, hand sanitizer, chap stick and more. The officers were very grateful and appreciative!
Chief Steven Casstevens Testifies at a Senate Judiciary Hearing in Washington D.C.
On January 17, 2018 Buffalo Grove Police Chief traveled to Washington, D.C. to testify at a Senate Judiciary Hearing on long term health care for police officers who are permanently disable in the line of duty. Chief Casstevens' testimony was given before the Sub-Committee on Crime and Terrorism, and the hearing was chaired by U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham. The discussion centered around Public Safety Officer Benefits and the gaps that exist, which in some cases, causes officers to be denied benefits. Thank you Chief for your important work on behalf of police departments across the country!
Citizen's Police Academy Begins Soon!
The annual Buffalo Grove Citizen's Police Academy will begin February 28th, and run through April 18th. The group will meet once a week from 7-10 p.m. and cover topics such as: SWAT, narcotics, evidence, firearms and more! Click here for more information. Applications can be located here.

BGPD and DEA Drug Take Back Initiative
Together we have collected 438.2 lbs. of unneeded or expired prescription drug since April of this year. On October 28th, we collected over 110 lbs. alone. Thank you for your participation and assistance in keeping our community safe and healthy!
Online Overnight Parking Requests
The Buffalo Grove Police Department is proud to present an on-line overnight parking request. If you need to leave a vehicle on any village street between the hours of 2:00 a.m. through 6:00 a.m., you can fill out the on-line form and it will be sent directly to the police department. Click here, or the overnight parking request button located on the right hand side of the screen to request overnight parking.
Citizen Satisfaction Survey Results
Click here to view the findings from the police department's Citizen Survey from 2017. The survey was sent to 1,500 residents at random to gauge their views on the services provided by the BGPD.

The analysis of 2016 Traffic Crashes has been completed, and the top five crash locations have been identified as: Buffalo Grove and Lake Cook Rd., Lake Cook and Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights and McHenry Rd, Buffalo Grove and Aptakisic Rd (short), and Arlington Heights and Dundee Rd. This agency offers our lobby as a Safe Exchange Zone for buyers and sellers to meet, examine items, and complete transactions.
