Overview
The Social Services Unit is staffed by one full-time Police Social Worker who provides services to the Village of Buffalo Grove community.

Committee Involvement
To provide comprehensive services to the community, the Police Social Worker develops and maintains working relationships with local social service providers and community organizations and participates in committees focusing on issues such as:
  • Domestic violence
  • Mental illness
  • School safety
  • Community clergy
  • Drug and alcohol abuse
  • Juvenile crimes

Social Worker Responsibilities
The Police Social Worker provides crisis intervention, evaluation, assessment, referrals and emergency response in the following areas:
  • Domestic violence and family problems
  • Victim assistance
  • Mental health / substance abuse
  • Juvenile issues
  • Cases involving seniors

The Police Social Worker also provides short and long-term counseling, crisis intervention and referral for services for individuals, couples, families and the community.
