Authorization to Waive Bids and to Purchase - 700 trees for replacement of parkway trees affected by EAB 13-C
Recommendation of Action
Staff recommends a waiver of bids and purchase of 700 Trees from St Aubin's Nusery at the previously Bid (November 2011) Price. This purchase is not to exceed $165,000. A bid waiver is requested for the purpose of securing nursery stock for fall planting.

Overview

A total of 700 trees will be needed in the Fall 2012/Spring 2013 planting seasons to replace trees removed during 2012. Forestry staff will be going out to �tag� healthy trees at the nursery in late September to cover this round of plantings.

St Aubin's Nursey has agreed to provide the Village the same pricing as was provided for in their 2011 Bid, for the purchase of these 700 trees.

The Village needs to enter into a new contract with St Aubin's Nursery as a Change Order to the current contract would violate Public Works Change Order Act (50 ILCS 525/1). This Act is applicable if the contract price is increased by more than 50%.
