Buffalo Grove Police made two drunk-driving arrests during its recent Independence Day traffic enforcement effort.

In addition, 108 seat-belt citations were written, 13 cell phone tickets, along with two arrests for driving a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.

“These enforcement crackdowns are vitally important because too many people are not heeding the message – drunk driving is deadly and illegal,” said Traffic Sergeant Michelle Kondrat. “Alcohol not only dangerously impairs your driving skills, it impairs your judgment. Any time you see a friend drinking alcohol, make sure they don’t plan to drive home.”

The Buffalo Grove Police joined forces with other law enforcement agencies and highway safety partners throughout the state in the Fourth of July Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over crackdown.

The statewide effort was funded by federal traffic safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
