Independent candidates can begin to gather signatures for petitions to run for one of five open seats on the Buffalo Grove Village Board in the April 2, 2019 Consolidated Election.
Petitions can be obtained at Buffalo Grove Village Hall, 50 Raupp Boulevard in Buffalo Grove, during regular business hours; Mondays from 8:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m., and Tuesday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Petition filing begins at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, December 10, 2018 in the Village Clerk’s Office, 50 Raupp Boulevard in Buffalo Grove. If there is more than one person in line at 8:00 a.m., a lottery will be held following the close of filing to determine candidate placement on the ballot.
Petition filing closes at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2018. If there is more than one person to file between the hours of 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on that date, a lottery will be held to determine the final place on the ballot.
Positions, and the number of seats to be elected include:
Village President (1) 4-Year Term
Village Clerk (1) 4-Year Term
Village Trustees (3) 4-Year Terms
The number of signature requirements are directly related to the total number of ballots that were cast in the most recent Municipal Election (2017), which were 2,390. Individual petitions for the April 2, 2019 election will require a minimum 120 (5%), and a maximum 191 (8%) signatures.
Questions regarding the Municipal Election should be directed to the State Board of Elections. Municipal Elections are administered by the County Clerks. A Candidate’s Guide may be obtained by calling the State Board of Elections at 312-814-6440 or can also be found online at elections.il.gov/ or specific to the County of residence for Lake and Cook Counties (respectively) at either lakecountyil.gov/163/elections or cookcountyclerk.com/agency/2019-elections.
