The second public meeting for the Lake Cook Corridor Project will be on Tuesday July 11th from 6:00-8:30 pm at the Community Arts Center – 255 McHenry Road. This meeting will be an open house format; meaning that anyone is welcome to stop by at any time between 6:00 and 8:30 PM.
The public open house will be held to gather input on alternative scenarios for the future Lake Cook Corridor. The consultant team has worked closely with a Corridor Planning Group (the project’s steering committee) to develop these alternatives that look to meet the Plan’s goals, and improve the Village’s identity, vitality and economic and fiscal sustainability. Data, information, and community input from the project’s previous phases were instrumental in framing the scenarios. Project team members will be present for to address comments and questions.
The Lake Cook Corridor is a key asset to the community. It encompasses over 472 acres of land and includes over one million square feet of commercial space, residential dwellings, the Village campus and municipal golf course. The Corridor also serves as a gateway to the Village as it connects Buffalo Grove to the regional network of expressways, highways and other major roads. With over 40,000 vehicles traveling on it per day, Lake Cook Road is one of the most utilized and visible roads in the region.
The project’s first public meeting was held this past February and allowed participants to join an online poll about the Corridor and submit comments about their visions and concerns for the future of the Corridor.
The project’s end result will be a vision plan for the Corridor that is comprehensive, grounded in market realities and achievable. The project team anticipates the plan will be completed by the end of 2017.
