Each driver and front seat passenger of a motor vehicle operated on a street or highway in the State Of Illinois shall wear a properly adjusted and fastened Seat Safety Belt. The Village of Buffalo Grove also requires, by ordinance, that all passengers in the vehicle be buckled up, this includes the rear seat passengers.
Regular safety belt use is the single most effective way to protect people and reduce fatalities in motor vehicle crashes. When worn correctly, safety belts have proven to reduce the risk of fatal injury to front-seat passenger car occupants by 45% – and by 60% in pickup trucks, SUVs, and mini-vans.
From time to time the Traffic Unit conducts seat belt safety check points at various intersections within the village. This is to ensure safe travel and to remind drivers and passengers to properly wear seat belts. For more information on the Illinois “Click It or Ticket” mobilization, please visit Buckle Up Illinois.
