Testing & Hiring Qualifications
  • At the time of the last date for filing applications for police officer, applicants must be between the ages of 21 and less than 35 years. However, police officer applicants may exceed the maximum age of 35 years of age by the number of years served on active military duty, but by no more than 10 years of active military duty. Additionally, an applicant can be 20 years of age with the successful completion of two years of law enforcement studies at an accredited college or university and be considered for appointment to active duty with the Police Department.
  • Applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalence.
  • Applicants must have at least 20/40 vision in the strong eye, correctable to 20/20, and at least 20/100 vision in the weak eye correctable to 20/40. The uncorrected standard shall be waived provided the applicant can meet the corrected standard by wearing FDA approved soft contact lenses.
  • Applicants must possess a valid driver's license.
