Junior Police Academy
Come join officers from the BGPD on June 12-16, 2017, 10:00 a.m. - noon for a chance to experience the ins and outs of police work. This class is open to students between the ages of 12 and 15, who either live or go to school in Buffalo Grove. See a K-9 demonstration, and learn about evidence collection and how to make a traffic stop! On Monday, May 15th at the Village Board Meeting, three police department promotions took place. Chief Casstevens delivered the Oath of Office the department's new Deputy Chief Scott Eisenmenger. Deputy Chief Eisenmenger has been with the department since 1995, was promoted to Sergeant in 2007 and Lieutenant in 2014. He brings a wealth of experience to his new position, and is a Certified Eligible Police Chief through the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police.
The Fire and Police Commissioner Chairman, Brian Rubin delivered the Oath of Office the the department's new Lieutenant, Tara Anderson, and Sergeant Thomas Dattilo.
Lieutenant Anderson has been with department since 2000, when she was hired as a desk officer. She was sworn in as a police officer in 2001, and promoted to sergeant in 2014. Sergeant Dattilo was hired as a desk officer in 1984, and was sworn in as an officer in 1986. Each of these individuals have received several commendations, letters of recognition and awards throughout their career. Congratulations to all three!
Project Blue Light
On May 15, 2017, the Village will be honoring police officers who have fallen in the line of duty, as well as offering support to current officers, prior to the monthly Village Board Meeting. Beginning at 7 p.m., a small ceremony outside of Village Hall will commence, with a Thin Blue Line flag being raised. There will also be free blue light bulbs passed out to those in attendance. Bulbs are already available for pickup (free of charge!) at the police department, on a first come-first serve basis.

BGPD and DEA Drug Take Back Initiative
*UPDATE* April 29th was National Drug Take Back Day. On that day, residents and community members turned in over 91 lbs of prescription medication for proper disposal, bringing the Buffalo Grove PD's yearly total to 321.4 lbs. Thank you for keeping our community safe and healthy!

Do not provide any "IRS Agent" who calls you with: gift cards, green dot cards, credit card numbers, or bank account information. 2016 Top Five Crash Locations
The analysis of 2016 Traffic Crashes has been completed, and the top five crash locations have been identified as: Buffalo Grove and Lake Cook Rd., Lake Cook and Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights and McHenry Rd, Buffalo Grove and Aptakisic Rd (short), and Arlington Heights and Dundee Rd. This agency offers our lobby as a Safe Exchange Zone for buyers and sellers to meet, examine items, and complete transactions. Officers will not be actively involved in the exchange, however, we provide a well-lit area that has video surveillance...for free! If you need assistance, we're only a few steps away. Be safe!
